The national President of Women In Mining In Nigeria (WIMIN), Engineer Janet Adeyemi, on Tuesday has said the quest for crude oil has kept on dwindling across the globe.

Janet, who went on to clamour for women taking part in mining industries the across the country, expressed as opposed to focusing on the crude oil, women ought to be offered the chance to venture into the mining business.

Making the pleas on Tuesday in Jalingo, Taraba State while launching the Girl For Mining (G4M) initiative, the need to fill the gender gap in the state mining sector, she accepted can never again be overemphasized.

The world, as believed by her “now wants solar energy, hydro-power and other sources of power that are not oil. So at this time, we are witnessing the gradual passing away of the oil and gas sector in the globe and when it finally fades out. Nigeria will be left with only two means of wealth creation- Mining and Agriculture.”

The number of women in the sector, she said “will keep dropping if we do nothing to pump female miners into the sector now” affirming that “the women on ground today will all be gone someday.”
