Nigerian Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has left people talking on social media after referring to former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The Senator representing Yobe North Senatorial District took to his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday morning to share photographs of his meeting with APC stakeholders, including Shettima, who is the running mate to the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Met yesterday with stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress from Yobe State, including the presidential candidate of our great party, the APC, Senator Kashim Shettima,”Lawan tweeted.
Nigerians who saw the tweet before it was deleted raised alarm.
Some contemplated whether Lawan was passing a message the Nigerian public ought to be aware as they inquired whether the APC just made Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State, a placeholder considering Shettima as their primary candidate.
