The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has stated that its enrollment, verification, and other identification systems are operating at peak performance.
It also stated that the National Identification Number (NIN) is now required for access to all government services.
It also reassured Nigerians that top-tier identification services would be provided in line with the government’s effort to provide a reliable, sustainable, and verifiable foundational identification system for all Nigerians and legal residents.
Similarly, NIMC stated that NIN enrollment and issuance are both free.
The commission warned that it would not tolerate extortion and urged the public to report any such incidents to the appropriate authorities.
According to NIMC, all approved fees for other services are listed on its website.
The commission stated that it is aware of the actions of some unscrupulous individuals who are attempting to collaborate with state and local governments by using its forged document.
According to the NIMC, these individuals do this to collect money in order to enroll and issue the NIN, particularly for students in primary and secondary schools throughout the country.
The commission stated that it has not sent “anyone nor any organization to do so,” and that the public should report any such individuals or organizations.
