Late on Thursday night, the Lagos State Police Command announced that controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, had been detained as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder of musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, nicknamed Mohbad.
However, information on the prominent music promoter’s arrest has come to light.
He was detained at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Thursday night, according to a police source who asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to speak on the subject.
He said, “Sam Larry was arrested at the airport after he arrived from Kenya. Our officers arrested him at the airport and he was immediately taken to the state police headquarters for questioning.”
Sam Larry’s name had been spoken frequently ever since the call for justice in the death of Mohbad gained momentum.
Azeez Fashola, nicknamed Naira Marley, the former head of late Mohbad’s music company, revealed his intention to return to Nigeria if his safety could be assured, which led to his detention.
According to INFOXCLUSIVE, the police had previously invited the pair to be questioned about Mohbad’s passing.
While they awaited the results, the police last week also revealed that pathologists had finished the autopsy of Mohbad.
“Autopsy has been concluded. Awaiting results,” stated Hundeyin. This development came after the body of Mohbad was exhumed by a team made up of Nigerian Police Force and health experts from Lagos State.
Additionally, the authorities had detained the nurse who allegedly gave the singer an injection prior to his eventual demise on Tuesday, September 12.
